EVA RENSKI
2010 SCHOLAR OF THE YEAR
|
Eva is the daughter of Mary and Benedict Renski from Ledyard, Connecticut. Her mother, Mary, is a member of the New London Women's Bowling Association.
Eva is a graduate of Saint Bernard School in Uncasville, Connecticut, where she had an overall average of 92. Eva has been enrolled in a very competitive college preparatory program which included at least six Advanced Placement courses while in high school. Her outstanding academic ability has led to numerous honors for Eva including being a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
As a student, Eva has been involved in numerous activities. The list of her activities include the following: student ambassador, praise choir, chorus, drama club, speech club, a member of the prom committee and also serving as a Big Sister to a member of the freshman class at Saint Bernard. Eva has also been a member of the cheerleading squad during the football season, a member of the lacrosse team and this year a member of the softball team.
Outside of school, Eva is an active participant in her church. She has served her church by being a teacher's aid, a lector, a youth group member, a youth council member and numerous other programs in her church.
Eva was accepted at numerous colleges which included Assumption College; Catholic University of America; Fairfield University; Gonzaga University; Marquette University; and the Universities of Connecticut, Dayton, and New Haven. She has decided to enroll at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.
Eva has compassion to help others as well as a concern for doing what is right. She is currently considering a career in communications/journalism due to the fact that she feels the media has become too obsessed with celebrities and has lost focus of actual news stories. Another area that Eva is considering is becoming a lawyer because "too many good, honest people out there are short-changed because they can't afford adequate legal counsel."
The Connecticut State USBC Bowling Association wishes Eva success in all that she does or may do. Hopefully her idealism will help better our society in the future.
